Park Avenue Baptist Church began its ministry shortly after the War Between the States, in 1870, as a Sunday School class for children.  The class quickly grew and began to include many adults.

In 1871, the church was chartered as 5th Baptist Church of Atlanta.  In 1899, the church found a more permanent location at the corner of Woodward Ave. and Cherokee Ave. and was renamed Woodward Ave. Baptist Church.

In 1933, the church moved to its present location at 486 Park Ave. and changed its name to Park Avenue Baptist Church.

In the summer of 2004 the Holy Spirit began to lead the members of Park Avenue Baptist Church to a new and fresh vision of reaching and ministering to the changing Grant Park community.

Park Avenue Baptist Church has seen a rebirth in its worship and ministry and is excited to develop relationships with you and our other Southeast Atlanta Neighbors.
